Shady Williams – One of The Southeast’s Last Original Style Letterheads

DeNyse Companies has lost one of the southeast’s last original style letterheads, Dally Jack “Shady” Williams (1945-2013). Since the age of 14 Shady has worked in the sign industry. Along his life’s journey has taught so many of us. We were lucky enough to have Shady as a team member and our hand painter for over 25 years. With a heavy heart, we all share stories and memories of our co-worker, our friend, Shady Williams. He was truly a man of commitment, and integrity. He will be very missed. More information will be provided as arrangements are made. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Sign Contest – We need your help

It’s that time of year again, sign contest. Each November, we go back in time to look through a year of projects that showcase our workmanship and creativity. This year, Signs of the Times magazine has started a new trend. They have selected a few contest entries to be part of the Reader’s Choice Awards. DeNyse Companies was lucky enough to have one of our Signs – Park 83 – nominated for a Reader’s Choice Award. This nomination is exciting for us since this sign project was a challenge from the start. With the sign being located in a municipality with a very strict sign ordinance, we had to stretch the limits of our creativity in design, fabrication and the final stage was up to the installation team. In the end, the clients were pleased with this lighted creation.

Now we need your help. Please take this survey for the Reader’s Choice award, and select the sign – Park 83 as one of your Favorites. Remember one entry per computer, so please share it – and Remember to support DeNyse Companies by selecting Park 83. Electric Survey Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/82S2B9G

DeNyse Celebrates the Season with a Party & a Trip

Each year, Jennifer and Allen DeNyse, along with all the employees and their families are invited to the annual Holiday Party. The social committee decorate and adorn the shop into a winter wonderland full of holiday decor. The shop closes at noon, and all the employees are able to take a little time to celebrate another year of success. One of the highlights of the event is the annual roast.  For those who do not personally know Allen or Jennifer DeNyse, they both love to laugh and have a good time. And like most families, you have to tease a little too. Why not have a little fun on the expense of one another, and nothing is off limits when it comes to the laughs. We professionally call this our Service Awards, however for anyone that has been with DeNyse Companies, Five, Ten, Fifteen, or Twenty Years, this is really the annual roast.

Each year, our design team is given the task to make us laugh with a morphed picture of our lucky recipient. Jennifer with her brilliant smile, and easy laugh takes the time to write a speech, or roast if you will, about each employees skills, all with her famous humor. Even with the great gift giveaways, the always delicious meals, I think the annual Service Awards / Roast is what always brings in the crowd.

This year the 5 Year Service Awards went to: Lee Sims, Service Tech; Donna McDonald, IT; David Whited, Painter; Shane Motes; Fabrication; Heather Blair, Project Administrator; Darwin Martinez, Painter; Olman Sadoval, Painter; Bonny Belcher, Project Administrator; Lynn Ratel, Project Manager; Jim Leatherman, Fabrication; Greg Crocker, Installation Tech; Sarah Harris, Payroll; Brenda Foster, Installation Administrator.

Our 10 Year Service Award went to: Tim Luther, Project Rep

Our 15 Year Service Award went to: David Kaplan, Sales Manager and Burr Mathews, Router Manager

Two other awards given out were: Salesperson of the Year – Tim Luther and Employee of the Year – Mike Butler, Design Manager.

This year’s festivities continued into the evening. Allen and Jennifer took the employees to an afternoon at The World of Coke. A large caravan of DeNyse employees traveled to take in all the taste and sights that The World of Coke had to offer. One of our favorite sights are the new Holiday Ornaments that adorn the heart of Pemberton Place. We are proud of all our completed projects,. however there is something very exciting about visiting a completed project for an iconic company such as The World of Coke. The fact that they have hundreds of different Coca-cola flavors helps too.

DeNyse Companies prides itself on having a family environment, just walk through the doors at DeNyse, and you will see a true family at work, or at play enjoying a holiday party and a day at The World of Coke.

What are you Thankful for?

Did you know that more than 280 Million turkeys will be consumed in the United States for Thanksgiving? Have you given any thought to Cranberries? Twenty percent of all cranberries consumed in the United States are eaten on Thanksgiving. For weeks prior to the big feast, our lives are consumed with what special food we will eat, who’s house will the celebration be held, and who is coming to enjoy it with you. Maybe you spend hours of shopping to get all the right ingredients, to make the perfect pie. So much time goes into the preparation of the meal. How much time do you spend on really thinking about what Thanksgiving is all about? How much stress do you cause yourself and others over Thanksgiving Dinner? If more time is spent on stress, cooking and worrying, it’s time to reevaluate what your Thanksgiving should be.

I asked Jennifer and Allen DeNyse, the owners of DeNyse Companies; what are you most thankful for this Thanksgiving Season? Jennifer stated “I am so thankful for the wonderful people we work with every day. They really are the lifeblood and heart of the company and the biggest reason why we strive to be more creative, vibrant and family oriented company. So many employees love the difference in our company vs. “Corporate America” and we are just grateful that we have the opportunity to work with the best of the best.”

DeNyse Companies employs more than 90 people every day. When you walk through our office and manufacturing facility you know that you are in a place that fosters a family environment. We focus on our work, and ensuring that every customer has a great experience. Customer satisfaction is top priority; however we focus on our employees, their family and their lives. We try to stop and celebrate the joys of our employees. Over the last few months we have celebrated a wedding for one of our Project Administrator, a baby shower for our in-house mechanic and his wife, and celebrated all of our Veterans on Veteran’s Day.

Tomorrow as you sit down to celebrate your Thanksgiving Feast, be sure to think about all the things that you have to be thankful for.  Maybe this Thanksgiving season start a new tradition, be thankful each and every day.

The DeNyse Companies family would like to extend a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends, family and our clients.

Celebrate Veteran’s Day – Everyday!

How did you celebrate Veteran’s Day? We celebrated our veteran’s with a special breakfast. At our morning break, breakfast was served for our 8 Veterans. During our celebration, Allen DeNyse spoke to the entire staff about Veteran’s Day and what an important job serving our country is. Allen also announced the donation of 3 memorial signs for a local fallen soldier, Lance Cpl. Scott “Boots” Harper, whom was killed while serving in Afghanistan in October 2011. The Memorial signage was placed in Douglas County, in honor of “Boots”. Once of the Memorial Signs will be given to his family.

We are so proud and thankful for all our employees that have served our country. Pictured above; Shady, Corey Anderson, Eric Roche, Tony Hill, Matthew Wheeling, Andy Ward, Alex LaRue, Andrew Wood.

DeNyse Companies – Proud Americans

Where were you eleven years ago today? We all have stories of where we were, how we felt on that devastating day. That was a day of great sadness. 2997 people lost their lives in a tragic and senseless act of terror. The world stopped when that first plane crashed into the World Trade Center, and our lives changed forever.

911 was a day of sadness that no one could ever image, however it was also a day of patriotism. Never in my lifetime have I seen such grace, and strength of a nation. Neighbors, strangers, and friends worked tirelessly to help everyone in need.

Thank you to the Men and Women that work so hard every day to make our country, The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

DeNyse Companies would like to send out our thoughts and prayers to all the families that lost loved ones on that tragic day.

DeNyse knows Signs and Picnics

The success of  DeNyse Companies is by far because of our employees. Most companies say that, but do they mean it? DeNyse Companies was started by Jennifer and Allen DeNyse in the basement of their first home. Together, the dynamic duo, started Woodgraphics (today DeNyse Companies). Jennifer and Allen have never been a stranger to hard work. From humble beginnings, until today, the same has held true, this is a family business. DeNyse held their annual Picnic this past Sunday. The DeNyse team was invited out to Tanner State Park for a day of food, swimming, putt-putt and boating. Family fun in the sun at its best. The children & adults swam, road paddle boats, and enjoyed each others company. Our team works hard and plays even harder. It says a lot about the family environment when employees  spend time outside of work with each other. Family environment is the key to our success.

Lighted Sign – Lights the Way

Have you ever wanted to see a Native American blessing with a flame arrow send-off of goodwill and prosperity??? Now you can. One of our latest customers, Cactus Car Wash, is bringing the SouthWest to Georgia for their Grand Opening on Saturday, July 21st from 8am – 7pm.

Cactus Car Wash will open on Saturday, and DeNyse Companies will be there to cheer them on. Not only in body but in Signage. We were chosen to create the signage that adorns the property. Over the past few months, this sign package has gone from concept to completion. We completed the 75ft highway / pole sign. This sign lights the way for travelers on Interstate 20. We also completed the building signage, LED Channel letters with a Cactus Accent. The Main Entrance sign is something to see.  This Lighted signage is shaped as a Cactus (of Course) and includes a full color Electronic Message Center.

We are proud of the progress of the new facility as well as the signage. And can not wait to to get our Installation and Service trucks cleaned at Cactus Car Wash.

DeNyse Companies + Relay for Life = Great Night

Our employees have hearts of gold. Each year our employees give selflessly to multiple charities. We have weekly payroll deductions to support the United Way, and work with The Pantry and The Atlanta Food Bank, as well as Meals On Wheels.

Last Friday night, Team DeNyse hit the track to support Relay for Life. The members of Team DeNyse: Marianne Rivera, Mark DeNyse, Jennifer DeNyse, Allen DeNyse, Heather Taylor, Chris Budde, Vickie Tippens, Chip Vinson, Corey Anderson (and Family) Thesie Peacock (not shown).

We are so proud of our team for raising over $800.00 for Relay for Life. Fundraising was headed by our own in-house Barista, Mark DeNyse along with face painting, and hair painting courtesy of Marianne Rivera and her little helper.

The night was an amazing tribute to cancer survivors and those who are no longer with us. We proudly watched as one of our own survivors, Thesie Peacock, took her survivor lap. The night was filled with amazing Hope, Love, Strength and Determination.

Speed walker, Chip Vinson completed 80 laps = 20 miles, as well as lead the team for the most blisters!  His determination caught the attention of the community manager. We are so proud to be part of an amazing night for charity along with our friends, family and don’t forget our Team Captain Carne’ (Chilli in attendance but not shown). We look forward to another chance to work as a team, achieve a goal and have a lot of fun together…wait that is exactly what we do every day at DeNyse Companies. We know that to become a trusted sign & lighting partner with our customers, we have to also be a trusted partner with our co-workers. Stay tuned for the next event, you can meet the DeNyse Team, especially Carne’, he gets the most attention!
